Let’s talk about timing logic inside your flows because most of you are playing it too safe.
Here’s the problem:
A lot of brands default to the “wait 3 days, then send” logic for post-purchase and abandon flows.
But if your customer’s excited now, why are you waiting?
Here’s a better framework that I’d recommend:
1. Speed up your first touch in the post-purchase flow
The first email after someone buys shouldn’t wait 3 days.
Send it 45–90 minutes after the order confirmation. That’s when they’re still excited, checking tracking, and likely to open.
This is your moment to reconfirm their decision, preview what’s coming, and sneak in a product usage tip or surprise bonus.
2. Hit browse abandoners within the same session
If you wait 6 hours, you’ve lost them.
Use session tracking (e.g. via Klaviyo) to send a triggered email within 30 minutes.
Keep it short: “Still thinking about this?” with a soft CTA or a free shipping nudge.
3. Add fast bounce-backs for consumables
If someone buys your hydration powder or deodorant, don’t wait 30 days to remind them it exists.
Try sending a reorder incentive just 5–7 days after purchase, but only to folks who’ve ordered from the same product line before.
That early reorder reminder works because they already know how they’ll use it. You can always throttle down timing if it’s too aggressive. But most brands never test speeding it up, and that’s a huge miss.
