Q&A’s WITH IBRAHIM

Heyy,

Hope y’all have had a great week so far!

It’s Friday, so let’s get into some Q&As..

Question from Christian James (Co-Owner): We are a new brand that never spent on ads. We tested our offer organically in our first launch and sold out 250 units. We are now looking at paid ads.

I see all over that Meta Ads is a steep learning curve and you’ll waste money (at least 10K, in ad spend) while you test and learn what works for you. If this is true, should I just accept that most people who try to run ads themselves fail, and therefore hire someone from the beginning?

Also, I keep hearing that Meta is the only / best way to start advertising. What about other more niche platforms that may be more aligned with our brand? Example, we are a religious brand so we are looking at partnering with religious organizations and paying to reach their audiences via affiliate partnerships or paid posts on their websites/ platforms/ materials. Any thoughts on this strategy? Will we inevitably have to go to Meta Ads?

My Response: Firstly, congrats on selling out 250 units on your first launch, organically. It means you’re doing a lot of things RIGHT already. It’s also the right way to start selling your products and something I always recommend.

Secondly, you’re not wrong to be looking at paid ads, because in the end, it comes down to scale. Yes, Meta can be a little tricky if you have no idea how it works, and you’re right, you’ll need to spend money in the beginning, at least $10-20K to figure out at least something meaningful. And most people who try to run ads themselves do fail, and so do agencies. Whether it’s you running the ads or an agency/freelancer, you’ve gotta be willing to spend regardless when it comes to testing.

That said, even if you’re not running paid Meta ads currently, please make sure you have the Meta pixel set up already, so Meta keeps learning who your customers are, and when you’re ready to run paid ads, it’ll at least have some idea of who your potential customers are.

Meta is definitely one of the best ways to start advertising, but not the only way. You can 100% look into other niche platforms that makes sense to your brands, such as affiliate partnerships, etc., but a drawback of this is, most of these platforms or strategies will have challenges when it comes, hence why Meta would be recommended.

What I’d recommend is:

  • Continue doing what you’re already doing—organic marketing

  • Make sure Meta pixel is set up

  • Test out more niche platforms such as podcasts, affiliate partnerships, etc. to make it economically viable

  • Once you start getting some consistent sales, try out Meta, but with a small budget

At any point, if you do need a help of a freelancer, we have an in-house Meta Ads Specialist—Sai. Definitely recommend!

Question from Nicole (Brand Manager): I just launched this website and I honestly have no idea where to start in terms of strategy. My boss wants some paid campaigns and I have basic knowledge of google and meta ads. Can you provide some guidance?

My Response: Congrats on launching the website. Looks pretty good to start with!

To run paid ads, I do recommend building a personalised landing page to drive paid traffic to, depending on who you’re going after. If you at least have some basic knowledge when it comes to Google and Meta, you can definitely test it out with a small budget.

Some of my newsletter issues to help you with, in no particular order:

And since you’re just starting out, 100% recommend running influencer marketing campaigns, even if it’s just organic, barter system.

Hope that helps! At the end of the day, to run paid ads, there’s no shortcuts. You need to either have a good idea on how to go about it, or you learn from others, or you spend, test, and learn by doing.

Question from Justin (Owner): I am currently working on a downloadable product for sale, but note that you can't sell this on TikTok shop as it is not a physical product. Can you suggest any workarounds? thanks

My Response: I’m not familiar with any alternative ways to get a digital product uploaded onto the TikTok Shop I’m afraid, but what I can suggest is, get it uploaded to a marketplace that’s primarily dedicated to digital products such as Gumroad. It’s a free tool to set everything up, and they charge 10% fee on every product sold, and that’s it—no additional platform charges.

I’ve had products uploaded previously and you’ll be surprised how some of them organically search and buy your products. And if you have a distribution built, such as a huge email list or reasonable amount of social followings, it’s perfect!

Alright folks, that’s it for today. Have a great weekend ahead!
