After nearly 30 years in advertising, Lynn Power left bureaucracy behind to build brands she loved. She launched Masami, a clean, premium haircare line, at New York Fashion Week in 2020—just before COVID hit.

What kept her business growing? Collaboration.

🎯 The Growth Driver: Collaboration Over Competition
When we launched, it was a month before COVID. So my business plan had to get thrown out the window.”
Lynn turned early partnerships into the Power Beauty Collab, now 65 indie beauty and wellness brands strong.

When you find like-minded partners and you can do not just the usual things like giveaways or blog posts, but gift-with-purchase exchanges, live streams, shop small promotions—there's so many opportunities to help each other grow.”

💡 From Pop-Ups to Pop-Ins
After opening pop-ups in San Francisco and Boston, Lynn realized, “That was not scalable… I was the one working in the store and I couldn’t find good help other than my daughter and her boyfriend.”
She pivoted to pop-ins—curated shelves in existing stores like med spas and salons—now across 15 U.S. locations.

🧠 Lynn’s Advice for Founders
Build your network early: “A lot of female founders don’t really network the way male founders do.”
Start small: Test co-marketing ideas before scaling.
Choose value-aligned partners.
