Weekly retention checklist: improving 1% at a time

Here’s your get-it-done retention checklist for this week. You don’t need to do everything on here, but I highly recommend checking off as many as possible.

EMAIL

[ ] Review top 3 converting flows. Anything look outdated or misaligned with current promos? Update it.

[ ] Pull last 7 days of campaign sends. Are openers clicking? Are clickers converting? Analyze it.

[ ] Check your segment exclusions. Are you still hitting the “unengaged” crowd with every blast? If so, STOP. It hurts your deliverability rate.

[ ] A/B test one campaign CTA or subject line that you’re going to be sending this week.

SMS

[ ] Fire off one non-discount text this week. Reminder, story, tip. Something value-led.

[ ] Check SMS replies. Anything worth turning into a UGC moment or email angle?

[ ] Crosscheck your SMS opt-in vs email openers. Can you drive SMS opt-ins with a simple 1-click flow?

LOYALTY / REPEAT PURCHASE

[ ] Identify top 3 repeat SKUs. Have you promoted them recently in flows or campaigns?

[ ] Build a “buy again” segment of past customers from 30–90 days ago. Send them a tailored bounceback.

[ ] Check your referral flow. Is it live? Is the offer actually compelling?

POPUPS / ACQUISITION

[ ] Re-read your current popup copy. Does it clearly frame what the customer gets?

[ ] Review post-signup welcome flow. Is the transition from first popup → first email smooth?

[ ] If you are not A/B testing your current pop-up, make it one of the priorities this week.

BRAND TRUST & EXPERIENCE

[ ] Check your shipping notification emails. Are they useful, or just boring auto-text? Wonderment does a great job with this.

[ ] Review your 3 most recent customer support tickets. Could they be turned into proactive flows?

[ ] Scan your PDPs. Is there a trust building review or quote you could plug into an email?

Share it with your team. And don’t let this stuff sit on the backlog.
