Once someone buys, a lot of the brands make the mistake of going quiet. Especially new brands. But post-purchase is the perfect time to build trust and add value. And it’s one of the 5 flows I think is an absolute must have for brands on ANY phase.

Here’s what worked for a supplement brand:

  1. The why it matters email.

    • Sent 2 hours post-purchase

    • Reminded the customer why they bought.

    • Eg: "You just made a great call, here’s what to expect over the next few weeks”

    • Or a simple thank you email works too, depending on what you sell.

  2. The how-to email.

    • Sent 24 hours later.

    • Gave usage instructions and lifestyle tips.

    • Eg: "Here’s how to get the best results with your daily stack!”

    • Result? 14% increase in product review submissions.

  3. The social proof layer.

    • Sent 5 days after purchase.

    • Highlighted reviews from similar customers.

    • Eg: "You’re not alone—see what others are saying after 7 days”

These 3 emails helped reduce support queries and improved second purchase conversion. The moment after the sale should NOT be treated as a downtime. It’s your best shot to stay on top of their minds because after A LOT OF WORK, you have finally convinced this customer to buy from you. Make use of it.

These 3 emails of course barely touch the surface of post-purchase flows. There’s so much you can do. And that’s exactly why post-purchase series will be the next product I’ll be working on.
