A free newsletter with the marketing ideas you need

The best marketing ideas come from marketers who live it.

That’s what this newsletter delivers.

The Marketing Millennials is a look inside what’s working right now for other marketers. No theory. No fluff. Just real insights and ideas you can actually use—from marketers who’ve been there, done that, and are sharing the playbook.

Every newsletter is written by Daniel Murray, a marketer obsessed with what goes into great marketing. Expect fresh takes, hot topics, and the kind of stuff you’ll want to steal for your next campaign.

Because marketing shouldn’t feel like guesswork. And you shouldn’t have to dig for the good stuff.

Brand Breakdown

Stop asking customers to just trust you

We're doing a 100 days of stealing strategies from brands that are already winning.

For day 21, we have fatty15.

Supplement claims all sound the same after a while: "supports immunity," "boosts energy," "whole body health."

A skeptical reader has heard it a hundred times and stopped believing most of it.

So Fatty15 built an interactive body map.

Tap "red blood cells" or "immunity" and a callout points to the exact spot: "

Followed by a button: "Read the studies."

This turns "I don't believe this" into "let me see for myself."

So here's what you should do today: find the one claim on your product page that gets the most eye-rolls, and put the actual source directly behind it.

Pod Bites

The 30-minute Black Friday email playbook a $7M agency swears by

Will Evans is the co-founder of Flowcandy, a seven-figure Klaviyo email and CRM agency trusted by brands like Kabacha, Bachans, and Proactive.

In this podcast, he shared his Black Friday email playbook for DTC founders.

Audit before you plan

Look back at what worked last year in Shopify, Klaviyo, and Google Analytics before building this year's plan. Brands that skip this, often when a new team or agency comes in, end up throwing out lessons that already worked.

Your discount code isn't your only lever

A site wide discount converts well but is harder to control for margins and stacking. A discount code feels familiar to shoppers, which can lower conversion unless the deal is strong. Premium brands that don't want to discount often use a free gift with purchase instead.

Segment instead of blasting your whole list

Emailing your full list or just the 90-day engaged segment leaves revenue on the table. Klaviyo's AI segment builder can turn a plain language prompt into a working segment in under a minute.

Build a calendar and a QC checklist

Map every send into a shared calendar with the date, offer, and segment. Run a quality control check on dark mode, UTMs, and rendering across Outlook, Gmail, and Apple Mail before sending, since this is what quietly wrecks an otherwise well planned Black Friday.

Action Summary:

  • Audit last year's Shopify, Klaviyo, and Google Analytics data to see what worked

  • Research competitors' past Black Friday emails

  • Choose your offer type based on brand positioning and margins

  • Build high-intent segments in Klaviyo instead of emailing your full list

Stop Using AI for SEO Without Real Data

SEO is now more important than ever.

Google is no longer the only place customers search.

AI-generated answers also use web pages and citations when deciding which products, sources, and brands to mention.

That means your product pages, collection pages, comparisons, and educational content can influence whether your brand appears in Google and AI answers.

But proper SEO research requires real data:

  • Search volume

  • Keyword difficulty

  • Competitor rankings

  • Backlinks

  • Search trends

  • Search Console performance

  • AI visibility

That data normally comes from tools like Semrush and Ahrefs.

Their plans can cost roughly $117 to $240 per month.

That is difficult to justify for most brands.

So founders are turning to Claude and ChatGPT for help.

I ran this request in Claude.

As you can see, its crafted a perfect plan. Its even suggested which keyword to use on which page.

The problem?

Claude is predicting. This response is not backed by actual data.

It doesn’t have access to actual data so it will run a search and then try and predict keywords that are likely to have good search volume.

When you gave the same Claude access to data the response changes completely.

I ran the same request again with real SEO data.

This time, Claude could see which keywords had demand, which were declining, which were too difficult, and which pages were worth building.

And here’s the best part. This tool only costs $10 a month.

Give Claude the Data It Is Missing
