12 PDP changes that turn browsers into buyers

Only 2 out of 10 PDPs educate shoppers despite it being the second biggest driver of purchase.

Especially for brands selling:

– skincare

– pet care

– supplements

Where products need to:

– drive results

– be 100% safe

– have proof they work

In this post, I'll be sharing 12 changes that help you educate shoppers in the right places. Without making the page overwhelming.

And with the goal to increase conversions.

1. Always show concern badges. Exactly what this product is going to help with. Show up to 3.

2. Add a 2-line description. This goes below the product title. Needs to tell why this product is trustworthy and effective.

3. Show rating + reviews. Underline the review count. So people click on it and scroll to read the reviews. Applies if you have 100+ reviews.

4. Show the quantity for the price. This is the ml quantity. Justifies the price they pay.

5. Keep the 1st image, a lifestyle image. It increases time on page and helps to imagine using the product.

6. Show image thumbnails. You are educating in these images. Let the shopper know. Ingredients, benefits, and how to use. Leverage the image section to its full potential.

7. Add key benefits. This can have 3 main bullet points or 6 in a column format. Place this before the add to cart. So they are able to make an informed decision.

8. Optimize the area around the add to cart CTA. Add service USPs like "Ships free", and delivery time. Increase add to carts.

9. Add a review below add to cart. This can be a customer review or a note the "expert" behind the product wants to say. This builds credibility.

10. Use accordions. Answer all common questions shoppers have here.

11. Show before/after. Help them imagine the result they can expect, visually.

12. Explain the role of each ingredient. Why is it in this product? What makes the product effective? It helps you back your claims and makes the product look carefully curated.

Other UX/UI changes I did:

Moved price above the image

– Made the image gallery intuitive to use

– Added "best value" in the subscription section

P.S. Pet sites, skincare sites and health sites are where you can truly leverage the power of CRO. Compared to industries like fashion, where the "images" influence shoppers heavily.
