Good morning,
A first-time crocheter buys a Woobles kit to make Pierre the Penguin. But the magic ring, the fiddly loop that starts the project, can stop them before they make a single stitch.
The Woobles starts that loop for them. The kit arrives with a pre-started piece, so a new customer can begin making the penguin right away. It removes an obstacle before the box is even opened.
Today:
We break down how The Woobles engineers a first win, build a Shopify reorder link, cover five ecommerce updates and check whether one shipping box is eating into margin.
Today’s Deep Dive
How The Woobles gets beginners past the first-stitch barrier
Someone buying a beginner crochet kit wants to make a character like Pierre the Penguin. But before the penguin comes the magic ring: a fiddly first loop that can stop a newcomer before the project really starts.

The promise: make your own Pierre the Penguin.
The Woobles doesn’t just explain that step more clearly. Its beginner kit includes a pre-started piece. The customer can practice the main, repeatable stitch straight away.

The beginner kit starts the fiddly first step for you.
The rest of the kit protects that early progress: beginner-friendly yarn, the tools they need, step-by-step videos, left- and right-handed tutorials, and help if they get stuck.

The next steps are supported by yarn, tools and video lessons.
This is the question for your brand: Where does a first-time customer get stuck before experiencing the value they bought?
What to copy
Watch a new customer use your product. Find the first hesitation.
Remove, pre-complete or simplify that step.
Make the next action unmistakable.
Give them a way to recover if their first attempt goes wrong.
Don’t just sell the outcome. Design the customer’s first win.

A Single Typo Shouldn’t Cost You a Sale

A shopper types “running shos” and gets nothing back. Another types “red waterprof trail runners under $150” and hits the same wall. Both knew what they wanted.
Traditional site search relies on exact keyword matching, leaving shoppers stranded at “0 results found” screens.
Gladly understands what shoppers mean, typos and all. Instead of a dead end, they get products that fit what they asked for and a conversation that keeps them shopping.

ChatGPT ads are getting automatic creative enhancements
OpenAI says its creative enhancements can adapt ad copy and visuals, with the setting becoming the default on October 29. If you advertise in ChatGPT, review the generated versions before assuming every shopper sees the creative you uploaded.
Reddit adds a campaign planner and optimization score
Reddit’s new tools suggest campaign setup changes and flag opportunities in live campaigns. Treat the score as a list of ideas to inspect, not a reason to apply every recommendation without checking your economics.
Shopify adds stock counts inside Admin
Merchants can create, manage and review counts without moving to a separate inventory tool. If your recorded stock and shelf stock often disagree, use a count to find the gap before your next reorder.
Meta lets advertisers choose an audience for each ad creative
The new option pairs individual creatives in an ad set with an age range and gender. If you make different ads for different buyers, check whether it is available in your setup before splitting those audiences into separate ad sets.
eBay is changing some sellers’ payout settings
An eBay notice says some sellers will move to eBay Balance from November 4 and existing automatic payouts may switch to on-demand. If you sell there, check your payout settings so your cash-flow forecast matches when funds actually arrive.
On Socials
1/ A static ad can do the explaining
Antonio Ventre shares a supplement account using static ads to teach cold shoppers the problem, not simply show the pack. The account results are self-reported; the transferable idea is to test a static that does some of the selling before the click.
2/ The discount can win today and lose the next order
Feras shows deeper discounts alongside weaker 90-day repeat purchase at one brand. That does not establish cause and effect, but it is a good reason to compare promotional cohorts by contribution margin and repeat rate, not launch-week revenue alone.
The How-To
How to create a pre-filled reorder link
If customers regularly buy the same product again, don’t make them find it and select the variant each time. Send a link with the right item already loaded.
1. Get the variant ID. In Shopify, open Products, select the replenishable product, then click its variant. Copy the number after /variants/ in the admin URL. Shopify’s guide shows where to find it.
2. Build the link. Replace the domain and ID in https://yourstore.com/cart/VARIANT_ID:1. The :1 adds one unit. Shopify calls this a cart permalink.
3. Test it before sending. Open the link in a private browser. Check the product, variant, quantity and current price, then add it to a replenishment email or SMS when past buyers are likely to need another.
The link starts a new checkout; it does not place the order for the customer.
Daily Growth Rep
📦 Today’s Growth Rep: Check what your box is costing you
Pick one high-volume SKU and compare the shipping weight billed with the packed product.
Why this works: Carriers may charge for the space a package takes up, not just what it weighs. An oversized box can quietly raise the cost of every order. UPS explains dimensional weight here.
Your rep:
Pull the carrier charge and billed weight for one delivered order.
Weigh and measure that SKU in its usual shipping box.
If the billed weight is higher, check for dimensional weight or a correction. Price a smaller protective box before changing the pack-out.
Report: “Checked one SKU’s shipping weight.”
A right-sized box can improve margin on every future order of that SKU.
